Handmade Tile and Mosaic Juried Exhibition

Tessera Tile and Stone located in the affluent ocean-side village of Gloucester, Massachusetts will host a two month exhibit from 10/08/10-12/8/10.  The exhibit is being scheduled to coincide with peak New England fall color and the holiday shopping season. Artist entries will be juried by Molly Andrew and Dennis Bryant, owners of the store.  ‘Tessera’ provides New Englanders with the best of creativity in handmade tile, glass and stone.

TERMS

All Works must be for sale.  The store receives 25% of sale price.  This artist friendly exhibit has a $10 jury fee and no size limits on works.  The total sum of the jury fees collected will be given to the people’s choice winner on 12/8/10.  Make $10 checks payable to Tessera Tile and Stone.  Accepted works under 75 lbs. may be mailed to Tessera Tile and Stone. 90 Bass Ave.  Gloucester, MA 01930.  Works must be shipped in a reusable crate or cushioned box.  ‘Tessera’ staff will return unsold works to artists if shipping is paid in advance.  Works under 75 lbs. may also be hand delivered and retrieved by the artists.  Works over 75 lbs. are welcome.  Delivery, set-up and take down are the responsibility of the artist exhibiting large scale works.  Artists are responsible for insuring their works while on route to and from ‘Tessera’.  Wall mount works weighing between 10 and 75 lbs. must have a durable wire.  Works under 10 lbs. can be hung using a well secured saw tooth hanger or wire. 

Artists should submit a minimum of 3 digital photos on CD or three 8.5”x11” photos.  Photos will be returned only if the artwork is accepted.  Photos and artworks will be returned to artists starting 12/9/10.  Of the three photos, one should be a close up.  No more than two works per artist will be accepted.

EXHIBIT SCHEDULE

8/31/10       Photos Due  (received by 8/31/10 not postmarked by 8/31/10).  Include mailing address, phone #, E-mail and website.  Include a brief artist statement of fewer than 150 words per piece.  Include a biographical statement of fewer than 150 words.  Include sizes and weights for each piece. 

9/1/10   Jury begins.

9/5/10   Jury announcements go out.

10/5/10   Mailed in works due.

10/6/10-10/7/10   Hand delivered large works due.

10/8/10   Exhibition opens/ Artist reception 6pm-9pm

10/8/10-12/8/10   Public votes on peoples choice award.

12/8/10   Exhibit ends.  Peoples choice award mailed out.

12/9/10   Works can be picked up.  Return by mail will begin for unsold works with prepaid postage.
