FALLEN LEAVES 2003 SPECTRUM INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL AWARD FIRST
PLACE
In keeping with residence's "Arts and Crafts"
theme, the designer chose to create handmade oxide-enhanced stoneware
leaf tiles and burnished them to a deep, reddish-brown to fit
comfortably within the cherry wood fireplace surround.
The fallen leaves
theme was a collaborative effort with the homeowners. The conservatory
was to house a large variety of plants and small trees, therefore the
leaf tiles were selected to be compatible with the purpose of the room.
The designer chose moss green slate for the floor to offer some contrast
to the reddish-brown dominating the walls, windows and doors.
